6 Stages To Do Bookkeeping Like A Pro

Today’s topic is all about Master User Learning Journey, which is the six stages to do bookkeeping like a pro for business owners and non-accountants.

To be honest, I’ve been debating with myself whether I should share today’s post with you or not. Right now I only teach this in my paid program, Master User Academy. But I know that this will be very beneficial to you especially during your early stages of learning bookkeeping especially if you do not have a mentor to guide you. I want you to learn this before you decide whether you truly want to learn bookkeeping or not and I think you need to know what you are signing up for. You need to know what you are going to learn and what you are going to do before you join our Master User Academy program so that you will be mentally prepared and ready to start doing bookkeeping even on your first day of joining us.

Whenever I’m driving to a new destination that I’m not familiar with, I will always set up my GPS navigation (Waze App) and get the route. Next, all I need to do is follow the route. As long as I follow the route, I know for sure that I’ll arrive at my destination.

So consider Master User Learning Journey as your route to your DIY bookkeeping success.

This is your roadmap that lays out your whole learning journey from not knowing how to do bookkeeping at all to becoming an expert DIY bookkeeper that completes your accounts monthly and uses your financial reports to grow your business faster.

So all you need to do is follow the Master User Learning Journey (your route) and you will arrive at your destination of becoming a successful DIY bookkeeper for your business.

I designed Master User Learning Journey for business owners who wanted to do their own bookkeeping but knows nothing at all about accounting. There are six stages in Master User Learning Journey.

In the beginning, you will start with the basic entry level tasks and once you have completed a stage, new bookkeeping tasks will be gradually added so that you only focus on the next best step. It’s designed to move you along your bookkeeping learning journey one step at a time so that you will not feel overwhelmed by the rest of the things that you don’t need to do right now.

 

Stage 1: New User

You will start your Master User Learning Journey at Stage 1 as a “New User”. You have just signed up for a new account with Xero Accounting (or your chosen Cloud Accounting System) so that you can do bookkeeping. You may or may not know how to do bookkeeping or how to use Xero Accounting (or your chosen Cloud Accounting System). You’re ready to get started in bookkeeping but you don’t know where to start. All you know is you love the features in Xero Accounting (or your chosen Cloud Accounting System) and believe that you can do bookkeeping easily by using Xero Accounting (or your chosen Cloud Accounting System). This stage is all about getting your Xero Accounting (or your chosen Cloud Accounting System) set up correctly so that it is ready for your bookkeeping transactions.

 

Stage 2: Beginner User

Stage 2 is “Beginner User”. Your Xero Accounting (or your chosen Cloud Accounting System) is all set up and ready to go! You are now ready to record bookkeeping transactions related to your business’s daily operation into your Xero Accounting (or your chosen Cloud Accounting System). You will learn how to record transactions related to inventory, customers and suppliers. At the beginning of this stage, you may still feel that you don’t know where to start on bookkeeping. But as you go through our guided lessons and tutorials for this stage in our Master User Academy program, you will gain more clarity on what you need to do and you will start to feel comfortable in doing bookkeeping.

 

Stage 3: Intermediate User

Stage 3 is “Intermediate User”. You can confidently record bookkeeping transactions for inventory, customers and suppliers regularly now. You are now ready to record bookkeeping transactions for the money that's coming in and going out from your business. In this stage, you feel comfortable in doing bookkeeping and you are eager to learn more.

 

Stage 4: Advanced User

Stage 4 is “Advanced User”. You can confidently record bookkeeping transactions for the money that's coming in and going out from your business regularly now. You are now ready for weekly mini closing of your accounts and get an up-to-date report of your customers outstanding balances which will help you improve your collection of customers’ payments. In this stage, you feel great to do your first weekly mini closing of your accounts by following our guided lessons and tutorials for this stage in our Master User Academy program.

 

Stage 5: Master User

Stage 5 is “Master User”. You are confidently doing weekly mini closing of your accounts regularly and improving your collection of customers’ payments. You are now ready to record basic journals for basic monthly closing of your accounts to generate basic monthly financial reports that’s sufficient to assist you when you’re making business decisions. In this stage, you are excited to do your first basic monthly closing of your accounts and you feel relieved that your accounts are now completed way ahead of the tax deadline.

 

Stage 6: Super User

Stage 6 is “Super User”. You are confidently doing your bookkeeping and getting basic monthly financial reports of your business regularly. You are now ready to record advanced journals for full monthly closing of your accounts. You can generate accurate monthly financial reports like a bookkeeper and use the reports to help you make good business decisions to grow your business faster. In this stage, you feel fabulous with your newly mastered bookkeeping skill and you feel ecstatic about using the reports to grow your business faster. By the end of this stage, you are now fully transformed into a Super User that does bookkeeping like a pro.

 

 

Let’s recap what we have learned today. The six stages of Master User Learning Journey are stage 1 “New User”, stage 2 “Beginner User”, stage 3 “Intermediate User”, stage 4 “Advanced User”, stage 5 “Master User” and stage 6 “Super User”.
